Social Work Habit Analysis

A score of nine is fair in this category. However, it highlights the need to use the habit of ‘putting first things first’ in more efficient manner. This means that, sometimes I tend to get distracted and fail to focus. I can relate to this finding based on some observations.
Example 1: Answering phone calls during important meetings.
This habit indicates that I can be easily distracted. In majority cases, the phone calls do not turn out to be as important as the meeting.
Example 2: Lose track of time.
I allow myself a break of 10 minutes after each 2 hours of work. Sometimes, I use this break to browse through news or check up on social media. I have noticed myself spending more than 10 minutes on these breaks. This habit shows that, sometime I fail to recognize ‘not urgent and not important’ activities and lose track

Think Win-Win
This is my second highest score (15) and I genuinely believe in this philosophy. When this habit is coupled with the habit of ‘seek first to understand’, it enables to figure out what can be a mutually beneficial outcome in any conflict situation.
I follow this rule consciously for conflict resolution. In many cases, the conflict is related to the method and not to the goal. Thinking Win-Win helps in achieving desired output without having to use authority or hierarchical powers.
3. Synergize
This habit is about teamwork. When individuals come together and work in a cohesive manner, they achieve results, which are far greater than their individual capabilities. I scored 14 for this habit and it is my third highest category, tied up with ‘Be Proactive’. ‘Synergize’ is about bringing out the best in people. I think it goes hand in hand with other two habits mentioned above. When you listen to others and want everyone to win, it creates a very conducive foundation for building a high performing team. I can recall several scenarios where I was able to bring multiple stakeholders together and work with them to achieve desired

Phone checking can become a behavioral addiction, which cues into the dopamine circuits in our brains. Left unchecked, the behavior can lead to challenges in face to face relationships and, in addition to the stress of being "always on," can be a problem in that it takes away from time necessary to be present for in person connection, which we all need for social health. Solutions include boundary setting, mindfulness practices and building the capacity of the prefrontal cortex to engage and intervene, interrupting the cycle of constant checking and soothing the accompanying hypervigilence. It may also be necessary to look at underlying emotions, as any addiction can be a form of avoiding the discomfort of challenging emotional states.…

The seven habits profile indicates that I practice the foundational habits quite well. Balance is definitely something that I have worked to develop over the past several years. There was a point in my life where the stress of work spilled over into my personal life and would affect the relationships that I had with others. I also think that being honest and being able to follow through on commitments are important in both the personal and professional areas of my life. One of the areas that I do need to improve involves talking about people behind their back.…

In this paper,I decided to go deeper in the analysis section because i noticed that; it was a shallow section, and did not explain to the reader how it’s linked to the writer’s purpose.(What makes that particular work attractive). It had no linkages, interpretations, explanations; hence, leaving the reader guessing what I implied. So this time i tried to give a general explanation without being opinionated.…

I give myself a five on the seventh professional behavior which is the use of constructive feedback. The purpose of constructive feedback is to raise an individual’s awareness of his or her behavior in a way that will lead to corrections or improvements (Willard & Schell, 2014). Based on this definition, I will rate myself as a five because I would like to improve in this area so that I can continue growing. The process of organizing and planning how to divide my time between specific activities is the effective use of time and resources (Willard & Schell, 2014). For this eighth professional behavior, I give myself a 11 because I feel this is the area in which I must improve.…

Engagement is a crucial part in social work because it is when first impressions are established. This is very likely to define how a client sees their social worker, if they trust them or not, if they will be completely open and honest or if they will refrain from divulging specific details. The social worker must also not dismiss this step as unimportant for their role, as key factors that may be present could assist them to identify if they are unable to work with a client professionally. Sometimes personal biases may interfere and it is best to identify these early on.…

I agree with the social worker PIE assessment, but there were some other factors that the social worker did not address such as: Renee physical environment (her community) and does any of her community environment play a role. Also, the social worker could explore the discrimination that African American face due their race and is there more occurring at school and/ or personal life that is contributing to Rene behavior in school. There are many social problems that affect our environment. Many are obvious, but some are swept under the rug. The one I have chosen to evaluate is absent fathers in poverty stricken areas. These environments are mostly low-income and are known for high-crime rates, which can be looked at as a hostile or wicked environment to raise a child in. This environment is hostile because anything goes, including gangs recruiting kids to sell drugs and commit acts of violence.…

This principle given by Vilfredo Pareto, an Italian sociologist and economist, is also known as 80/20 rule. Understanding this rule can help you to stop procrastinating. Originally, Pareto derived his 80/20 rule on the observation that 80% of Italy’s wealth then belonged to just 20% of the Italian population. By extension, the rule has been applied to all aspects of human endeavor. For instance, it’s the  20 percent of the effort that produces the 80 percent of the result  20 percent of the employees perform 80 percent of the task  20 percent of the input creates 80 percent of the output  20 percent of the cause creates 80 percent of the effects  20 percent of the customers generate 80 percent of the profit…
