What are the key issues that Bruce faces now and what risks are there for an imminent crisis in Bruce’s life?

Bruce currently faces various issues in his life. The biggest problem he has is the lack of emotional and financial support. Since his parents passed away and his siblings are not as helpful as needed, he may feel lost and struggle to find a sense of belonging. As he now has limited financial resources, he is unable to maintain his somewhat ‘expensive’ hobbies with his friends and that makes him even more isolated. Moreover, his productivity has decreased significantly in the past few years and if he stops working entirely, the last social network that he probably has, which is at the workplace is also cut off. This is also true for Bruce. Since he already unwisely spent all his inherited money, if he stops working or loses the current job, it is likely that there will be a drastic fall in his standard of living due to low income. Moreover, without any support and planning, retirement can cause him to become lazy and unmotivated (Bigby, Wilson, Balandin & Stancliffe, 2011). The absence of TTR will result in Bruce suddenly gets cut off from work- the only place where he can socialise and feel like he has a purpose in life. It can put him into depression and negatively impact his physical health. This will be problematic for him as it aggravates his already existing intellectual and mental illnesses, as well as accompanies new health …show more content…
This can be done by encouraging him to join a seniors group and take part in volunteering works. If his productivity is no longer sufficient for a paid job, it is required that he receives financial support (e.g. pension) so that he can spend time for such activities without worrying about how to make a living. It is also beneficial to encourage him to find some healthy hobbies that align with his current co-workers’ so that they can share things other than work-related activities once they no longer work together. In addition, it is essential to make sure his siblings are fully aware of his health conditions and circumstances and get them more involved in being responsible for their brother’s future planning.
