Some things than social workers consider in the assessment of major depression disorder is the instances of when the client say he or he is depressed. The social worker should also consider the that the disorder is affecting the client to do such as attending work, getting along with people and the ability to do daily task. Something that I would recommend social workers to do is to pay close attention to see if the client is taking any medication, because this can have an impact on the clients behavior. When conducting treatment plans it is important that the social worker creates realistic goals and small steps for the client to do. For example one step may be to stop using drugs for a whole month. Although this isn’t necessary a small task its great for a crafting plan. Social works should be aware that medication can have an effect on a client behavior. I think that the likely hood of a person being misdiagnosed with dysthymic disorder is very high because people this disorder seems like it can be very hard to properly diagnose.
