• Before this course, I had never heard of the stages of change. The stages of change are very helpful for understanding where a client is at in terms of being ready for help or not. It will be helpful to use during field placements, especially with mandated clients.
• I also learned a lot about engaging mandated/involuntary clients. When working in the field, I most likely will be working with mandated clients who do not want to be working with me. It was helpful to learn about the solution-focused approach and how to use it with these clients for the field. It will also be helpful in the classroom when looking at mandated clients.

I hope to work with domestic abuse victims so learning about what to document and what not to will be helpful so I do not end up hurting my client without meaning to.
• Ecopmaps and how to make them was a lesson that I will be able to use in other classes and in the field. Many of my other classes have talked about ecomaps and that they should be used during assessment, but never taught us how to make one or what it was even used for. My BA is psychology in sociology helped me feel secure in a lot of areas of practice. The knowledge I gained over this semester, coupled with what I learned in undergrad, helped solidify strengths I thought I already had. I was already a good active listener, but the strategies learned in this class have helped me to more finely tune that ability. I am still a little worried about working with clients that I might be able to put aside any bias I have for them, like a child molester or someone who committed sexual assault. This semester has made me more secure in my ability to make the right to decision and providing referrals in the appropriate situation. I do not plan to have to do that, but I know that I will have to refer some clients to another practitioner at some
