Social withdrawal in children moderates the association between parenting styles and the children’s own socioemotional development. A consistent display of solitary behavior when encountering familiar or unfamiliar peers across situations and over time, that is social withdrawal (Rubin & Coplan, 2004 ) , has been shown to increase the risk of socio-emotional difficulties later in life ( Rubin, Coplan & Bowker)Socially withdrawn children frequently refrain from social activities in the presence of peers. The lack of social interaction in childhood may result from a variety of causes, including social fear and anxiety or a preference for being alone. From early childhood through to adolescence, children with socially withdrawn are normally at risk of negative outcomes, including socio-emotional difficulties. (e.g., anxiety, low self-esteem, depressive symptoms) peer difficulties (e.g., rejection, victimization, poor friendship quality), and school difficulties (e.g., poor-quality teacher-child relationships, academic difficulties, school avoidance). The study that was made examined the joint effects of children’s social withdrawal and mothers and fathers parenting styles on children’s socio-emotional development. Socially withdraw children were assumed to be more prone to paternal influences than other according to diatheses-stress, vantage sensitivity and differential susceptibility models (Belsky & Pluess, 2009; Pluess & Besky, 2013).
