Personally I think social wellness, and emotional wellness are the most commonly affected by interpersonal conflict. A concept that was prevalent in our class is awareness. As Helen Keller once said, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you will not see a shadow.” This can also mean that the most effective way of getting through a crisis is to have a positive outlook, and not to focus on the negatives. In Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl — a series of journal entries that Anne Frank wrote while she and her family were hiding from the Nazi regime — Anne attempts to have a positive attitude no matter what the circumstances. She fought for her own life and for her loved ones’ lives, and her mental strength is one reason why she made it as long as she did. If she hadn’t looked on the bright side, despite her bleak situation, she would've never had the faith or will to survive.…

Hey Haleigh, I really enjoyed reading your post. I agree with Karl Marx, that society is determined by economic organization, particularly the ownership of property. In today's society, people think power is everything. People with power, think they can get alway with anything. Social-conflict shows society as an arena. The way some cultures and races are treated compared to others is the best example of social conflict. In the 1960’s, the south saw white as dominant and black as unimportant. They had separate restrooms; separate busses and the payment for jobs between the races did not match. The stratification in the sixties made the two races see each other differently.…

Some strategies that we have learned from the course material worked well. For example, our several strategies, which is mainly from the class lecture and the “Distributive Bargaining” article, including lowballing, flinching, using silence, good cop-bad cop, and taking time, really helped us to induce our counterpart to release their information, convince them, and reach the favorable outcome. That conflicts will occur in the workplace is a given. Even though everyone comes together for a common purpose, different personality types and conflicts styles impact how and if those conflicts can be resolved. HealthAmerica is no exception. Clarinda Peterson and Kyle Brandon failed in adjusting for their different personalities, did not practice effective listening skills and could have utilized the PUGGS model of conflict management. Leveraging their differences rather than ignoring them would have made for a different outcome in their meeting over nursing staff issue.…

Positivity During Conflict Positivity will never fail to boost a person during a rough time. It can help a group of people keep their mind on what they are fighting for. The way people can keep their chin up, and keep persevering during a rough time is through positivity. While being negative can help a person think about the situation at hand, being positive can spread to others like wildfire, Winston Churchill gave his people the positive attitude he had about winning the war in his speech Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat, and Anne Frank stayed positive while in hiding and got through two years of enclosure. Times of conflict can really affect a person’s attitude on what is going on.…

Interpersonal conflicts are part of everyday life and can be seen from minor disagreements with friends, families, spouses, and others to major disputes, which may be deciding factors for the future of certain relationships (Fernandez, 2008). An interpersonal conflict is a struggle between two people because they have conflicting goals or needs or because of some misunderstanding (Beebe, Beebe, and Redmond, 2005). In the episode “The Car, The Car” from the television show Everybody Loves Raymond, Raymond and Debra (husband and wife) negotiate with their parents (Frank and Marie) about the price of an old car (Frank's car), while arguing about rather it is worthy to keep the car. Frank tells Raymond and Debra that he is selling his 1972 Plymouth Valiant, and Raymond said he wants it because Debra needs a car to run her errands while they are saving up to buy a new minivan, and another reason is that because Raymond has a wonderful and special memory about his father's car.…
