Social Underground: Mr. Robot

Improved Essays
Each week, Social Underground will go over the newest episode of the hit show Mr. Robot. There will be a recap of what happened, and then some commentary on what happened and where the show might go next. Trying to figure out where this show goes is pretty difficult since there are many plots that interweave. The good thing about that is having a show that’s unpredictable. No one like knowing the end of a season at the beginning.

LAST WEEK’S RECAP: MR. ROBOT — RECAP AND ANALYSIS — EPS2.3LOGIC-B0MB.HC

SPOILERS!!!

Let's just say that the beginning of this episode takes a scene right out of the '90s. We're talking old commercials, laugh tracks, bad green screen driving, and a sad hint towards Christian Slater having cancer. It felt like an

It really gets into tech talk to the point where Angela has to try to learn what she's being taught. "You can't learn how to hack in one day" is what she's told. I know, it's why I dropped out of my college courses for IT. Screw that.

Some weird thing happens where a guy bring a router to someone, but the gets held down as a syringe is put in his finger to do something... but not kill him? Yet another disturbing moment in this episode. The good thing is that it FBI agent Dom survived after that major massacre to her co-workers. She questions her boss about how f*cked up the shooting was because one of the shooters killed himself after she clipped him in the leg. E Corp is also surrounded by protesters.

Darlene and fsociety start to implement its plan of dropping the device at the E Corp/FBI with the help of Angela delivering (with a few problems). It's at this moment that I realize how much of a different tone this season has. An agent also hits on Angela when she leaves the bathroom after initiating the hack. Uh, don't hit on a girl after she is in the bathoom for a while. Also, don't point out that she was in the bathroom for a while before hitting on her. Then again, she was on the wrong floor, so that is why he did that. She manages to counter him as he turns the conversation, so her hits on him to go out to eat. Guys are so easy when a pretty girl hits on them. Angela then moves on to drop the devices before Darlene tells her she isn't done because of the security footage. So far so good... then Dom shows up to talk to her

At first glance, this movie looks like a bad idea. There are social issues that many might find offensive or would be sensitive about. The issues most prevalent involve ableism, overconformity, and entitlement. But really this movie has a special meaning in the end if you can enjoy the humor and understand the points it is trying to make. Steve Barker is the main character of this movie, and it starts out in his workplace where he has just been promoted and his first task is to fire his friend, Stavi, the janitor.…

The definition of media is any format or platform that carries, presents, or communicates information, so everything surrounding us would be considered media. A certain type of media that I will relate back to sociology would be a television show titled One Tree Hill. The show is based around different high school kids and how the love of basketball and the love of the players makes them come together. The show itself, is centered around two half-brothers and how one is considered an outcast, Lucas and the other is considered royalty, Nathan. When Lucas makes the basketball team, Nathan isn't exactly his greatest fan in fact Lucas goes through a round of bullying before he is finally accepted onto the team.…

This episode really opened my eyes to other things going on in this world. I have always lived in good neighborhoods that have never had any shootings or crimes. These kids in the episode have not only had so many shootings in their neighborhoods but they actually see these shootings, sometimes are the shooter, and they see their friends or family get shot more than anyone should. It is crazy how different of lives people can live. I have never even thought about buying a gun because I would never need it but with these kids it’s a second nature to have a gun and to know how to get one and where to hide one.…

People learn things from other people, especially if a person starts to learn bad behavior when they were very young. Some people grow up with bad influences or within a bad environment around them, and these could turn the people into criminals or killers if they see that bad behavior is acceptable or has no consequences. This was the case with the main character in the movie Monster and two sociological theories, both have rational choice theory and differential association theory, strengths and weaknesses in how they explain the main character in the movie.
