VanSickle was the last Social Studies teacher I had at Caesar Rodney High School, but that does not mean she taught me the least. She taught me how to study well, something I had no idea how to beforehand, and how to be optimistic. She was the teacher that really brought out my love of history, a love that is heavily impacting my life come fall. However, the most important thing she taught me in my mind is how to be positive. Ms. VanSickle is essentially the human embodiment of the sun, and being around her lively personality each and every day for the past two years has rubbed off on me. I learned how to find light in every situation, and to keep pushing forward when it seems impossible, a lesson that is immeasurably important to my success and mental health in the future. Optimism and an ability to study were qualities I lacked prior to entering Ms. VanSickle’s class the first day of junior year, but ones I could not imagine living without
