Difference In Social Class

Social Stratification is how different groups of people are placed in society. People in the upper class will clearly have higher power, better status, and wealth than the other lower class groups. It all relates to our standard of living. To live a proper life for your specific class you must have a good enough income to provide for you and/or your family, you need to be able to buy a home or rent an apartment, own a car or even go on vacation. To some people when you can’t do those things you are thought little of. There are many different perspectives people have on social stratification. Functionalists believe that it is there because it is needed. They want you to know that the job of a firefighter is way more important than a cashier. Therefore a firefighter must be paid more.
