Goal Statement

This paper will analyze County Department of Social Services Agency that is located in Salisbury, North Carolina and correlate the ecological theory rand the psychodynamic/ psychoanalytical theory to explain how this agency interact with its clients and the community. This agency has multiple service divisions such as the Adult and Family Support Services Division that consist of the Crisis Intervention Program, Food Stamp Program, Intake (Adult Medicaid), and Long-term care Medicaid (nursing homes). Also, this agency has a Children’s Services Division. The Rowan County Department of Social Services has three main divisions including the Adult and Family Support Services division, Children’s Services division, and the Family and Children’s Public Assistance division. The Adult and Family Support Services division has three subdivisions which are the Adult Medicaid Unit, the Adult Services Unit, and the Child Support Unit. The Adult Medicaid Unit provides various programs that include Cap Care, Crisis Intervention Program, Food Stamp Program, Long-Term Care Medicaid, Adult Medicaid, Medicare Qualified Beneficiaries (MQB), Special Assistance Program, Job Link Career, and Medicaid Transportation. The agency is divided into division with units. The agency has the Adult and Family Support Services Division with the Adult Medicaid Unit, Adult Services Unit, and the Child Support Unit. Also, the agency has a Children’s Services Division that includes adoption, foster care, child protective services, and case management services.

North Carolina has a Federally Mandated, State Supervised, County Administered, and Social Services System. This means the Federal Government authorizes national programs and a majority of the funding and the State Government provides oversight and support but it is the 100 local County Departments of Social Services that deliver the services and
