S., & Gould., D. 2011). This type of behavior has eight different sub behaviors: reinforcement, non-reinforcement, mistake-contingent encouragement, mistake-contingent technical instruction, punishment, punitive technical instruction, ignoring mistakes, and keeping control. Reinforcement is a positive, rewarding reaction to a good play or good effort (Weinberg, R. S., & Gould., D. 2011). In my observation, the coach had eight occurrences of reinforcement during the 60- minute class (21%). Mistake- contingent encouragement is encouragement after a mistake (Weinberg, R. S., & Gould., D. 2011). The coach had one occurrence during the class (3%). Mistake- contingent technical instruction is instruction or demonstration on how to correct a mistake the player has made (Weinberg, R. S., & Gould., D. 2011). The coach showed two acts of the behavior (5%). Keeping control is a reaction to a bad behavior but being able to keep their composure. The coach had four different occasions where his composure was critical in keeping the class running smoothly (11%). The coach did not show any of the following behaviors: non- reinforcement, punishment, punitive technical instruction, and ignoring mistakes. The sport of CrossFit is more about the encouraging words and the help from others to get them through the workouts. Using punishment or ignoring mistakes …show more content…
S., & Gould., D. 2011). This behavior has only four sub behaviors: general technical instruction, general encouragement, organization, general communication. General technical instruction is spontaneous instruction in the techniques and strategies of the sport that does not follow a mistake(Weinberg, R. S., & Gould., D. 2011). During the 60- minutes the coach reminded the athletes seven times of how to do the movement correctly (18%). General encouragement is spontaneous encouragement that does not follow a mistake (Weinberg, R. S., & Gould., D. 2011). Encouragement is needed for this sport due to CrossFit being a mental sport. The coach had six occurrences during the 60- minutes of the class (16%). Organization is an administrative behavior that sets the stage for play by assigning duties or responsibilities (Weinberg, R. S., & Gould., D. 2011). The coach showed six different times of this behavior (16%). General communication is interactions with players unrelated to the game (Weinberg, R. S., & Gould., D. 2011). The coach did a decent job at this with only four occurrences (11%). These different coaching behaviors help in evaluating whether the coach needs to improve or change the way they are conducting their punishments or reinforcements. After careful consideration finishing this observation, I would tell this coach that providing some more mistake- contingent encouragement and general encouragement
