1. Social Promotion: - According to Henslin, Social promotion is “passing students on to the next level, even though they have not mastered basic materials” (Henslin 424). Many school pass their students without even providing them the basic knowledge that they need to know. Lack of basic knowledge makes the students suffer after their high schools. The students who doesn’t work hard or tend to lack behind in their schools but pass because of the social promotion, have a difficult time in college in pursuing the education of that level. Whereas the students around them who doesn’t use social promotion to pass, have more knowledge and therefore do better than them on the exams. I have been promoted to the next class in elementary without even getting any kind of knowledge evaluation. I also witnessed the social promotion in my high school where students who lacked a subject knowledge were promoted to the next grade level by receiving lower grades as their final grades. …show more content…
Credential Society: - Credential society is where the eligibility for work is determined from people’s degrees and diplomas. Employers use their degrees and diplomas to determine the eligibility for the job because their education level demonstrates their responsibility, consistency, and presumably, basic skills. Having a higher level of education determines how much a person is dedicated to his/her work. I can directly relate to this because when I went for a job interview at an ice-cream factory, the interviewee asked me for my educational achievements, my degrees or diplomas. Even though there is no use of education for making of the ice-creams, but education helped me in getting that job. Therefore, education plays an important role in our lives also for getting the job
