Family Homelessness Research Paper

Homelessness is a multidimensional social issue with complex casues and effects. The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development’s offical defination for homelessness can be devied into four categories: The first one is literally homeless, which refers to the unsheltered Individuals and families who is lack of fixed, regular, and adequate housing. The second category are Individuals and families who are at imminent risk of lossing their housing and becomeing homeless. The third category are Individuals and families who are homeless under Federal statues which means temperaily staying in an emergency shelter or some sort of supportive housing program. And the last category are Individuals and families who are fleeing or attempeting to flee due to domestic violence or other dangerous life threatening conditions against the individual or a family. I chose homeless families in the United States as my topic of the paper. Because I found family homelessness to be a very servar issue not only because homeless families made up about one-third of the total homeless population in the U.S. but also family homless are more concerning since it often involoving with young children. Internal cause include; poverty, health and mental health issue, substance abuse, domestic violence, the challenge of being a single parents and riseing children alone, lack of family supports. External cause of family homelessness include: lack of affordable housing, lack of support from society and community, decreasing government supports, unemployment and recession. usually it takes combined effort of both internal and external cause to push a family in to homelessness.
