In the course of American politics there have been three major revolutionary changes in political communications: radio, television, and the internet (Epstein, 2011). In the first two technologies, political communications (from the campaigns to the people) were quickly and largely supplanted by the new technology. When radio arrived, campaign speeches and campaign advertising went “on the air” and print was largely reserved for reporting and punditry. On the arrival of television, radio became the second choice communications channel, and television the mandatory channel. The internet, on the other hand, has largely served to supplement existing communications channels rather than supplant them (Eriksson, 2012).…

In the novel, the Party uses telescreens to showcase all news, entertainment and government propaganda. Likewise, advertisements are circulated through radios, billboards, television, and the internet. Social networking sites such as Facebook serve the same purpose as the telescreens in the novel. In both societies, media is used to successfully communicate information to the members of the society, whether it be for their welfare or detriment. Propaganda and advertisements are manipulative mediums that can persuade individuals into concluding that everything the government says is true and for the benefit of the citizens.…

In order to let Canadian citizens choose their government, usually every four years elections occur. Elections are a democratic process in which every political party tries to appeal to the public by having an electoral campaign and travelling across the country in order to present their promises and the reasons why they should be the party that forms the government. Whether it is the federal elections or provincial elections, media advertising plays a big role in the leader’s tour. It is true that a lot of money is invested for the funding of an electoral campaign, yet media pays off by giving the opportunity to political parties to communicate their messages to the electorate, reporting on the development of an election campaign, and reporting results of the vote counting and so on. The first-past-the-post system is an important concept in the electoral system.…

This could be attributed to the increase in use thus the influence of social media, or maybe social media campaigning really didn’t have any significant effect on the 2016 election. Furthermore, the finding that showed that although candidates did utilize social media extensively, online electoral patterns were normalized. This is exceptionally different to Twitter and Facebook use in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, where Tweets made national waves and Facebook spread heavily bias or simply fact news. Nevertheless, this can be attributed to the selectivity of the study, only focusing on a single Finnish parliament seat, while the other was the election of arguably the most powerful leadership position on…

Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more, have had an impact on the way humans are interacting with each other. These social icons are not just a medium for communication, but they offer more to it, than that. Social networks have attracted many individuals worldwide because of their potential to address millions of users and possible future customers (Krombholz, Merkl, Weippl, 2012). These platforms are becoming a norm in today’s world that are difficult to avoid and arguably can be corrosive to the real community. I personally believe that these are corrosive to the real community because of individual’s ability to instrumentalize their online self-presentation, difficulty in staying focused and artificial intelligence.…

How young adults vote may be correlated to where they receive political information on candidates and issues.…
