Constant attention grabbers from up-to-date tweets from numerous people is changing how users’ minds work (Cross 56). 140 characters is very limiting when it comes to communicating what a user wants to say online. So people shorten their words and create slang to get the same message across in less words. Constant use of these words shape a user’s mind about how to interpret these new words and in the process, change how people think. New vocabulary and constant updates gives the brain so much information that it tends to fragment people’s attention (Cross 24). Tweets are short and it does not require much of people’s attention at all. Hence why Twitter is part of popular culture, because it does not require much attention to people’s shorter attention spans nowadays (Cross 1). Twitter can help anyone make a new persona.
