Social media is also a way of getting in touch with someone really quickly and easily, for things such as job applications, parent teacher conferences, teacher to student communication, family events, etc. Proponents of social networking sites say that the “online communities promote and offer teachers, librarians, and students valuable access to educational support and materials” (Social Networking ProCon.org). For example; a few teachers at Brevard High School use an app called Remind. Remind is an app that is approved to be used in schools, where teachers, or whoever, can contact a bunch of people at one time. Some teachers use it because it is a better way of communication, rather than email. One is allowed to set up the app to be able to respond back, or to not be able to. This is a popular app because it comes in the form of a text message, so it is easier this day in time, for both the teacher and the student. There are people that are smart enough that can tell where one is or was at a certain time, just because they logged into a social media account using mobile data. “Every day, Facebook manages over three hundred million photo uploads” (Social Networking ProCon.org). People often post things on FaceBook, Instagram, and SnapChat, about where they were, who they were with, and what they were planning on doing either later that night, or that week.
