Social Networking in Moderation
Every day, people come into contact with some form of media. When watching the news, reading a newspaper article, or googling mindless information, people do not realize they are coming into contact with different types of media. The different forms of media are popular, but the most upcoming form of media is social media. Social media has impacted students enormously over the years, making it a priority to check their social networking sites while doing homework. Most schools try to ban cell phones in the classroom, hoping to get students full attention during class. Students will always find a way to sneak around the rules. There are many precautions that are put in place to take time away from social networking, but no matter what there will always be an easy access to them. Even if students have a social network addiction does not necessarily means their grades will go down because of it. Students even if they don’t have a cell phone during class can still get easily distracted. There are many factors on why students perform poorly, and since social network is always there people quickly conclude that is the issue. There plenty of studies out there that prove social media harms or have no effect on students grades. There are many studies that prove different statistics about the effects of social media, but the answer is there is no way of getting rid of it. The only answer to make social media a positive part of a person’s daily lives is to embrace it. Social networking can be done in moderation, and also be very useful to keep people close to one another. Social media can affect students’ grades, or not affect them at all. No matter what the circumstance is, social media is here to stay. Instead of setting a negative tone on social networking it is time to upgrade and use it as resource to benefit our society, and not deleting
