The users of social media were increasing rapidly from 2010 to 2017, and in 2016, there were up to 2.28 billion of social media users (Statista, 2017). Different information posted online can be very powerful and affect people greatly as bunch of users can give comments to the others. With the popularity of social media, the use of health-related websites and social media pages are becoming more and more common as well. It is obvious that online health webpages are quite different to how people treat their health issues traditionally by seeing doctors. Therefore, the rising of health-related websites largely influences the sick role theory.
