Societal Parenting Parenting has become a societal project that we can no longer decide for ourselves. Everything we do is criticized by those around us. Technological advances have also begun to make contacting each other easier, but keeping track of where your child is or what they are doing a little more difficult for those that are doing it the correct way, however, it can be easier for someone who is trying to track them for less than desirable intentions. Disclosure is a thing of the past and cameras in every facility and on every street corner are a soon approaching reality. Social media is a disease on every corner of Earth that will not stop growing and chipping away at our privacy as technology becomes more prominent, but it poses very serious threats to the safety of those too young to understand its dangers Forget choosing your own parenting style. In many large cities, security or traffic cameras are on almost every street corner. Nothing you do is unseen and if that happens to be the seemingly capital offense of spanking your child in public, there is actual criminal charges that can be brought up against you. Though the intention of whoever brings up those charges may be to protect the child, it also infringes on parental rights. This can be good, such as a case in Detroit in 2015 during which a man was caught on a grocery store camera punching the two year old child of his girlfriend and was charged with child abuse, however, it also hinders parents’ willingness to follow through with the rules and consequences they have set up for their children because of fear they will be judged by
