Social media influence people nowadays. Social media is a form of electronic communication which helps people especially students who are in need in different terms such as sharing information, researching, communication, and entertainment. The rapid growth of social media usage has been observed over the past few years. And since, many users are always updated; it can indeed influence their lives in different terms especially the academic performance of the students. Moreover, there has also been considerable media coverage of the growth of social media usage, its potential positive outcomes and concerns about the way that some individuals are engaging with it.

Social media sites offer people new and varied ways to communicate via the internet, whether through their mobile phones or personal computer. Social media sites permit every individual to freely and easily create their own online page, blog, or profile and to construct and display an online network of contacts, called “friends”. Users of these sites can communicate with their friends and with other people who are outside their list of contacts via their profiles. Due to it, many students are concerned on how they are going to enhance their academic performance and on how to achieve those achievements.
Senior high school students have always paid a lot of attention to the presentation of self on social media sites. It seems that for most of these students creating networks and online profiles is an important mode for the management of their identity, lifestyle, and social interconnections. The tendency of a student to join a social media community is influenced by both the number of friends he or she has within the community, and more crucially how those friends are connected to one another. Computer access and use among students have grown exponentially over the past decade (Akanbi, 2014). Once connected, adolescents engage in a wide variety of social media behaviors, including doing schoolwork, playing games, shopping, downloading music, text messaging and chatting and so forth.
