There have been ideas social media and in the way we have access to it. There have been small changes in which affects The United States as a whole. There have been many discussions about how social media has played a part in American culture as we are becoming more reliant on computers and technology. Social media and mass media has an effect on modern society as technology has grown, so will its effects on people. Social media is where anyone can exchange information to their friends and family; and with regard to Twitter, their followers. Since the internet became widely used, such as Facebook and Twitter, given a voice to everyone. There has been a growing epidemic called cyber-bullying, “A significant amount of social media bullying takes places on Facebook. This is due to many factors, including its widespread popularity and its capacity to share photos and other media” (Nobullying.com, 2016 para. 5). This shows just one example of a popular social media forum, gets taken advantage of, the PewResearchCenter.org as of 2007 have the statistics of “One in three online teens have experienced online harassment. Girls are more likely to be victims, but most teens say that they are more likely to be bullied offline than online” (Lenhart, 2007 para. 1). 1). What this quote means is that many institutions will use social media to see if the potential employee will be good for their business or not. With this many companies will take a look at the persons picture to see how the person acts, or if they have written something in the past that the business might not want agree with or could cause issues for them. In itself many might call this as an intrusion of privacy and to hold something they did against them as being illegal or unjust. However, a business does have the right to protect themselves as they see if; while it is understandable that someone could not be hired because they are holding a can of beer, could see how it could cause hurt
