The world we live in today is constantly evolving and developing each and everyday. Our technology and ways of communicating have come a long way and it’s changing our society in a very big way. The Internet has caused our society to grow faster than ever and it has become a big part of our everyday lives. Social media has been one of the fastest growing creations on the Internet and has changed our ways of communicating. Information travels almost instantly with the invention of the Internet and social media. The social media impacts me in a very big way and has been a part of my life ever since I was a preteen, which is when websites like MySpace and Facebook started to become big. Jay Scott Co-Executive Director of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation wrote an article in the Huffington Post talking about how they use Social Media to get information about their foundation out to the public. The article also mentions the use of social media by a childhood cancer-fight named Josh Hardy to help get the treatment he needs to survive the horrible disease. They started a campaign on Social media called #Save Josh and the e story went viral within days. “It wasn 't long before the story took off; landing on social media as well as major media outlets including CNN.” This helped to get Josh Hardy the treatment he needed and has been improving ever since.(Social Media makes an impact on society) Recently one of the biggest campaigns to raise awareness was by the ASL foundation which started a campaign called the ASL Ice Bucket Challenge which got people to either donate one hundred dollars to the organization or dump a bucket full of ice on themselves and donate like ten dollars. This campaign was very popular throughout the summer of 2014 and helped really raise awareness about ASL, which was a disease that not many people cared about or even really knew about.
