Photography had been around for more than a century and has drastically changed throughout the years. It used to take a ton of heavy equipment in order to take a decent photo. Not only would it take lots of work, but also lots of patients to wait for the photo to develop so that the person can see the image. Now it only takes a smartphone to take a good quality photo and it is not as complicated as it was years ago. Photography was mainly used to record memories and was not for social use. The only people that would be able to see these photos were the people who would come over for Christmas or even just on a random day. Photography has recently become a gateway to relief anxiety and boost self-confidence. The new form of photography, selfies, has become a tool of power in the social media world and sometimes can become a burden when you’re trying to enjoy your surroundings. …show more content…
The viewer of the film sees when he takes the photo of the “20 k run”, in reality he just took it at some foggy woods that he had made a quick stop at just to take that exact photo. Who would have known that he didn’t actually run. He was creating this idealized image that Brehmer was talking about. That wasn’t the only photo that he faked. Going back to the family photos, when a family takes a photo, everyone has to look like they get along. Not only are family photo sometimes faked but also selfies that people post. Some of my friends have posted photos holding a red cup with a caption, “Turn up”, when in reality there might not even be alcohol in the cup. People use photography to feel better about themselves not doing so well as they planned. There is a bit of power behind this process of lying, the person can make himself or herself look bigger than what they truly are. Some people even use this source of power to get famous, or in the Kardashians point of view, even more famous and rich than what they already
