Social Media Effects On Young Adults

Today, about 90 percent of the young adult population in the United States, uses social media. In a study conducted by Primack, Shensa, Escobar-Viera, Barrett, Sidani, Colditz, and James (2017), they revealed that there is evidence that social media can cause depression and anxiety. Young adults are influenced by the social media or technology today, by either envying someone on social media or being cyber bullied has increased depression across the U.S (Primack et al. 2017). According to Broderick and Blewitt (2015), the World Health Organization says that depression will become the second biggest disease in 2020 (p. 432).
