Second thing I will observe is the effect social media has on their self-esteem. The third observation will be how social media has negatively impacted their academics. The first observation I have found when it comes to teenager's communication skills is. They have none. When we sit down at our dinner table. I make everyone leave their phones in the kitchen. I want at least twenty minutes of uninterrupted time. I have had my girlfriend's teenage daughters call me and ask me if they are ugly because some girl left a comment under my picture telling me that I look fat. Why does it matter what the comments say? If you like the picture you posted then who cares. Then I have to remember teenagers internalize everything. These are the years they are trying to figure out who they are, what they are about, where they want to go in life. After a twenty minute wait we were seated. As we sat at the table waiting for our serving. I looked at the menu and decided what appetizer and drink I would like. My boyfriend was on his phone. The server approached our table and asked us what we would like to drink, and my boyfriend said, "We haven't had the chance to view the menu yet, may you give us a few more minutes"? By the time she got back which was twenty minutes later, He finally put his phone done and told her what he wanted to drink. Then had the nerve to request another minute to decide what he would like to eat. At this point I am livid. If he spent less time on his phone checking his Facebook we possibly could have had our appetizers by now. Needless to say, when she walked away I said something to him about his phone usage. Again, we got into a little bit of a disagreement
