Hispanics are all illegal aliens. Asians are good at math and can’t drive. Blacks are the best at sports and commit the most crimes. Native Americans all love to gamble. All Indians own liquor stores. Media is the main method of mass communication considered combined. There are many forms of media including movies and films to speeches and the news. Racism is the belief that members of each race own features or abilities particular to that race. It has been around for so long that people have been able to overcome it as our species developed. Racism on social media leads to a higher standard of discrimination. It can be considered in the factor of bullying. Races on social media who are discriminated and offended the most are Blacks, Asians, Latinos, and Indians. According the Pew Research Center, Blacks , Whites, and Latinos have an equal amount of using certain social media sites but have some differences on what they prefer. When it comes to Facebook: 73% Latino, 67% Blacks, 71% Whites, and 71% other race, stated they use the social media site. Instagram : 34% Latino, 38% Blacks, 21% Whites, and 26% other. Twitter: 25% Latino, 27% Blacks, 21% Whites, and 23% other. Pinterest: 21% Latino, 12% Blacks, 32% Whites, and 28% other. The social media site Pinterest is more popular among white internet users and other groups. Pinterest is an educational site for businesses which, negatively looks down while portraying other races because of their use being higher in a non educational site rather than the one third of whites using an educational one. Only the social media site’s administration can control what can and can not stay posted on social media sites. The majorities of races that are mostly aimed towards are hispanics, whites, asians, but overall mostly blacks. Other medias including the news, movies, shows and more can impact social media’s racism. Panelists agree that racism exists on social media would not end. But, they are able to expose items that would not usually get exposed. Due to the technology being easily attainable now a day, minorities can simply access social media. According to the site Statista, in 2008, 24% of the United States population used a social media site. In 2010, it went up to 34% of the population. In 2012, 56% of the population. In 2014, 67% of the population. In 2016, it has increased to 78%. Throughout 8 years, the United States use in social media went from 24% to 78%, a dramatic 54% increase. Because of the increase of use in social media each year, more people interact and are notified by society's comments. Society creating and portraying a stereotypical comment just because it is “funny”, can and will often, lead to it becoming racist. Social media users can easily create a stereotype and spread it around which, can eventually turn into a racist thing without the intention to do
