Many of us struggle with our own attractiveness, and with social networking becoming more popular it’s starting to impact our views of ourselves.
The majority of us have social media apps on our phones like Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter that we are constantly logged into and looking at. So it only makes sense that the information we receive from them impacts our way of thinking.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison on social media. You see your friend from primary school on a beach vacation and you envy them, you see a perfect home-cooked meal and you want to know why yours never looks like that, you see that photo on pinterest that you’ve ‘pinned’ so many times but you know you’ll never have the time to do even if you don’t sleep for a week because a) school is basically everyone’s main priority and b) you just know yours will never look like that. …show more content…
So is social media to blame for our body image?
Now. If you see a celebrity in a gossip magazine, you sit there and wonder; they’ve got a whole package of trainers and dietitians who help feel good about their body.
So it’s understandable that they are able to look good in basically anything. I’m sure that Blake Lively would look amazing in a paper bag.
But, when you’re looking at a woman on social media, you’re thinking, that’s the girl from down the road, if she can look like that I should be able to do that too.
So is this the cause of social media impacting on body
