Cause and Effect of Social Media Most people have used social media in their lifetime to communicate with others. However, there are still people who have not used social media, but their size is shrinking daily. Social media is any website, or application, that lets users create and share content or participate in the social network. An example of a social media is Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. These social media websites are places where users can add friends and share pictures or thoughts for anyone to see. Due to advances in technology, people are losing their social skills and bullying has taken on a cyber-form. To some people this make no sense, how can someone have better communication but lack social skills? This happens because users are having conversations in a chat room, but they do not use the skills required to communicate in real life. When people talk in real life, they have to keep eye contact and communicate with their motions. A person in a chat room does not use these skills and slowly starts to lose them. They do not know how to talk to a person in real life and would rather use their phone, even when in the company of others. It is not proper to use phones while talking to other people, but that is what this current generation does on a daily basis. They do not understand how to talk face-to-face. Another point is that people should call their family and friends more than contacting them in the chat room. Yes, texting does save time, but people need human contact. If people start depriving themselves of this natural instinct, they become anti-social and make this situation worse.
