Social media has been on the uprise since 2003 founded by Tom Anderson. Since then social media has skyrocketed not only by creating interactions between people, but also as a marketing platform. Interacting and supplementing to vulnerability online can be dangerous when compared to dating people traditionally. Meeting people in person gives people the security of knowing who they're dealing with, and what information they want to share. Since the uproar of social media, two forms of dating have emerged: traditional, and social media dating.
Traditional dating is often formal and tight. This style of dating is very awkward and often requires an ice breaker. Conversation is usually initialized by friendly small talk. When traditional dating most people will nod and smile to avoid disagreement, keeping true perspective to themselves. In addition to avoiding extremely personal conversations, people feel extremely uncomfortable talking about controversial topics in person, that they might talk about online with no problem. Traditional dating offers a feeling of relief in the sense of knowing exactly who you are talking too, mentally and physically. Studies show that traditional dating is nine times more likely to result in a long term relationship then social media dating.

Specifically, relationships through social media tend to be less important to the individual. The amount of partners at one time is increasingly high. When dating through social media, profile pictures can sometimes be enhanced to seem more physically attractive. This can result in an unhealthy start to a
