With this in mind, I analyzed a current news issue, reported by two different news sources. The issue that I chose to analyze was regarding the recent active shooting at the YouTube headquarters. In my analogy, I identified the similarities and differences between the two, to distinguish how different news sources present their news, based on where they fall on the political …show more content…

The focus of this essay will be on the fifth chapter in that book, Churnalism and the Problem of Social News, wherein Silverman eviscerates the lazy and desperate tactics which social media allows journalists to get away with. Silverman’s argument is this: the monetary incentive for journalists to promote that which will trend and write that which will sound good in the ear of…

Credibility is most often measured as a multidimensional construct ( Johnson & Kaye, 2002 ). Believability, fairness, accuracy, and comprehensiveness are four measures that have been utilized in studies assessing credibility perceptions ( Gaziano & McGrath, 1986 , Johnson & Kaye, 1998, 2002; Meyer, 1988; Newhagen & Mass, 1989 ). Gaziano & McGrath (1986) explored the credibility of individual media and news media in general. On example of this is a news article available online titled “Pence: Team Clinton Uses Shootings to ‘Demean’ Law Enforcement.” This article title is a bold claim that is nearly impossible to back up with facts.
