Tyler And Phoebe: Victims Of Cyberbullying

Tyler and Phoebe were just two normal kids who were the victims of bullying. They both were cyberbullied relentlessly and both did not want to be bullied anymore(Reinberg). Sadly, both of these children took their own lives due to the constant harassment of their classmates and others through the internet(Ollove). What people do not realize is this happens to so many children all across the U.S. A study done by Campaign for Cyberbullying found that 43% of students have been cyberbullied(11 Facts About). From an article by Steven Reinberg, cyberbullying can cause not only emotional and mental problems, but behavioral problems(Reinberg). He says that people who have been cyberbullied can cause them to do harmful things such as smoke and drink because they want to feel like they fit in(Reinberg). One of the most well known mental illnesses from cyberbullying and bullying in general is hyperactivity(Reinberg). Hyperactivity is when someone has trouble focusing on one thing or paying attention in the moment(Medlineplus). In a study done by MSN, it says that kids with ADHD, which is also known as hyperactivity, were almost ten times as likely to have been regular targets of bullying prior to the onset of the symptoms(Carroll). Being cyberbullied is causing kids to be inattentive in school. It will always be in the back of their minds what else people are going to say causing them to not focus on school. If cyber bullying is eliminated, it can also help kids focus more in school and decrease the amounts of mental illnesses due to the bullying. Another thing that most people do not understand is that cyberbullying can affect a person's adulthood. One app is called STOPit and the other app it called Bully Block. Both of these apps have the same purpose and are both great ways to stop bullying. What you do is if you see a nasty post online you can upload it to this app without using your name and the people in charge will take it from there and notify all the people that need to be notified about the bullying(An App To Stop Bullying). This app can help reduce bullying because it is a platform for the kids who are too scared to come forward and say something. This is a great way to spread awareness about all types of bullying and help decrease the numbers in bullying. One thing that is better about the app Bully Block is that it gives numbers to counselors and support groups for people who are getting bullied(An App To Stop Bullying).
