The “feminist” belittling men aren't getting their point across on a positive note.“To me, the feminazis do not accurately represent the feminist movement. They have also spurred the creation of the Meninist group, which is a group of men who are taking a stand against feminism.”(HC)They even have women supporting the Meninist movement. …show more content…
But, Since people are afraid of the word “feminist” these are the results. “According to the poll, only one-fifth of Americans identify as feminists. What’s interesting is that in the same poll, 82 percent of Americans believe that men and women should be equal. So it’s not the ideas of feminism that are the problem, it’s the word feminism itself.”(TS) The feminist community can be really kind. “If you Google “feminist activists,” you will learn about what women and men all over the world have done and are doing to advance the equality between women and men and to stop violence against women.” (TS) Even Beyonce is apart of this movement spreading great messages. “If feminism becomes more visible in the media and in popular culture, I think people’s perceptions surrounding it would change.” (TS) Unfortunately that is how things work because if it isn't cool nobody wants to know about …show more content…
What feminism means and stands for is sex and gender equality, but this is ignored while the negative perception of feminism takes the spotlight.”(TS) An example that shows there are people out there that would support the movement if they weren't categorized with the same extreme feminist. “When asked why they are not feminists, the most common response 40% is that 'feminists are too extreme', followed by 'feminists are anti-men' 18%. 11% of non-feminists are not feminists because they believe men and women are not equal.” (TYG) Of course not everybody is about equality and not everybody is a humble feminist, I get it, but for as much as our generation is on their phones they can take a few minutes to support good movements around us in real life. “It looks like most people are still allergic to the f-word. In a culture where feminism seems to be gaining momentum, a new poll appears to contradict that notion, showing that only 18 percent of Americans consider themselves feminists. However, 85 percent claimed they believe in equality for women.”(NYT) ---“People need to take the time to do some research about what feminism really means. Instead of accepting society’s negative view of it, learning about feminism and the activists who support it will help to replace the misconceptions and hate.”
