The adaption of social media in nonprofit organizations has provided a base for communication and public engagement. Social media platforms provide much more and go far beyond basic websites and emails that nonprofits used in the past as their main online forms of communication. The study focused mainly on organizations use of Twitter. In analyzing tweets sent out by nonprofits on Twitter, it is clear that these quick messages are a great way of getting information out there that users can engage and interact with. Tweets can serve multiple functions including conversation between the nonprofit and public, giving recognition to someone, promoting events, seeking donations, or learning more information on that actual nonprofit organization. Social media platforms provide a place for organizations to advertise upcoming events, teach the public about their cause, and allow for donations to be made via the web. They also allow the organization to interact with its followers through tweets, comments, and replies to posts. This helps in creating relationships with the community that may not be possible without social media. Social media allows us to reach a more expansive number of people since individuals can retweet, repost, and share posts. Organizations can also post thank you and appreciation posts about their volunteers or donators, which make them feel good and appreciated by the organization, therefore strengthening the relationship between
