How Does Social Media Affect Our Identity

Several people use social media every day to keep in touch with out of state family, to look at what is happening in the world, to read, and look at what people post on Facebook. Social media is an electronic communication that people can post anything they want on there, so that their friends and family can see it. Numerous young teenagers and celebrities do careless acts, so that they can get attention from their audiences. There are three sources that will help support my argument and they are “Young Women Posting Provocative Images on Social Media are Viewed as Less Competent: Research” by Savitha Muralidhara, “The Way We Live Now: I Tweet, Therefore I Am” by Peggy Orenstein, and “Ideologically Speaking, You Are What You Tweet” by Tom Jacobs. Although social media is about keeping in touch with close friends, teenagers/celebrities use it to seek attention by taking provocative pictures of themselves, taking a picture with drugs, and being immature. One reason why social media shapes young teenagers/celebrities identity is because some of them post provocative pictures and words that express their identity. Several people don’t spend time and they don’t talk as much to their family because they are always on social media. Several people don’t share what everything that they do on social media. Several people just post selfies and see their friend’s pictures. Our behavior has changed because if people see something online that everyone has then they will want to buy the luxury.
