If you find yourself walking by a group of friends, most of them will have their phones glued to their hands. In the article “78% of U.S. Teens Have a Phone, 47% of Them Own a Smartphone”, Todd Haselton states “The latest Teens and Technology 2013 study from Pew Research found that 78 percent of teens aged 12 – 17 now own a cell phone … 95 percent of all U.S. teens use the Internet.” That’s a large amount of teens that spend time on the Internet and social media. Unfortunately social media can have many negative effects. Some including depression, trouble socializing and even suicide.

Therefore not being able to socialize face-to-face. Others may say the Internet is a way to communicate online and make new friends.
