These are all effects that detrimentally change the persistent view on the society that we reside in today. The adverse effect that all these negative role models that are prevalent on Television set are immensity disgusting and show a bad image of presived reality to the children that we are trying to shield from the negative outreaches of the materialistic world. During this class, I created a survey which I asked to my countless friends on the social media site, Facebook to tell me what is one life lesson they have been confronted with while watching a Reality show? This answer was both scary and disgusting in nature and they people that we partaking in the interview were told not to joke around during it. The answer that came more than many times was Phyical Beauty is very important to the people watching these shows. I decided that answers that my peers and friends gave me are going to be the areas of discussion during this presentation. Many reality shows depict women idealizing beauty and thinness, giving the impression that a woman’s value is based on her appearance, and that popularity is derived from beauty. Competition shows such as America’s Next Top Model perpetuate this ideal, as women compete with one another to gain a lucrative modeling contract. Plastic surgery shows such as Botched, as well as the former Dr. 90210 feature people altering their appearance and becoming more satisfied with their looks and quality of life after surgery.
