Introduction
In today’s world the use of social media is becoming an activity that everyone is using. In 1997, a website called Six Degrees was created as the first social media site. On Six Degrees, users were able to add friends, set pictures, and send messages, like Facebook today. Today; websites have transformed into apps and computers have become phones, having the same range of use. Most people use social media in everyday life; some for good and some for bad. In the same way, education can incorporate social media in a way that can help in the classroom, but students can use it to hurt and distract in the classroom. We have to be mindful of how we are using it and how other are using it around us to make sure we have the most effected

“Social Media is a powerful tool used for instantly transferring ideas across wide groups of individuals. Instantly connected to this information, individuals are empowered with the means to send messages, links to websites, and other types of media” (Gonzalez, Davis, Lopez, Munoz, and Soto; 43). With the rise of social media and other platforms today we are actually able to teach in way like never before. Therefore; we can use Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube as teachers to relay a message or even to teach students. Since so many people have social media readily available we can use it to promote more involvement in the classroom in a way that is much easier for the students. We can use platforms like Facebook and twitter to post a question or a problem to a certain group that students have access to and let them discuss more easily. According to Gonzalez, “Social media might be a way to better target the trending communication preferences of students and help alleviate the possible inefficiencies in traditional forms of communication. While communication can still be effective using more traditional methods, social media may be yet another tool or channel in which these individuals can reach one another” (58).
