The theory that was implemented by Sigmund Freud was the Oedipal complex. This theory is when a young boy competes with is father for maternal attention. The beginning stage of my childhood would begin with me having great love for my mother but would quickly change, as my father would believe that I was beginning to become to close with my mother. This would definitely cause tension between me and my father but, I would then try to build a relationship with my father as he begins to instill gender roles by instilling in me that I must be strong and possess masculine characteristics such as playing with action figures and playing sports. As I reach my teenage years I believe that I would begin to experience some kind of rebellion against my mother growing up I would see my older brother act very rebellious against my mother but not towards my father because my father was more firm and I believe that we remember that our mothers are more nurturing and we rebel more towards them then the male figure. As I finish high school I believe that I would feel a lot of pressure from my father to think about my future and college, I believe that I would be very dependent on my parents being that they are middle class, I would rely on them to pay for my college. These factors can impact my life greatly as a male because I would see that more than a woman I would rely on my parents financially and it would be easier for me to do so because my father is the voice of reason and I think he would rather have me be more financially dependent on him and my mother than a woman. I think that this would change the way I am now by being more rebellious, I would not really care about others but myself and I would be very self absorbed because my parents would give me whatever I asked for. I also believe that males receive more leniency than woman and therefore, I don’t think that it is fair that although women receive less
