In the 21st century, eating at a restaurant is more than simply enjoying a meal with family, friends, or co-workers. Millennials have brought extra guests to the table: their cell phones. Even before entering a restaurant, people outside are either frantically iMessaging their friends to find out why they are late or are researching the restaurant on Yelp to decide if it is worth their time and money. Once you enter the restaurant, people are waiting in line to order while checking their social media accounts or playing games to pass time, whether they are alone or with others. It is necessary to uncover how has social media shifted millennials’ social interactions, the major positive and negative effects of social media, and how media has influenced millennials’ approaches to social justice and political campaigns. This topic is incredibly significant because (insert more) In order to analyze the impact of social media on millennials, it is essential to define the various forms of social media. First, social network sites consist of those that “forge personal, professional, or geographic connections and encourage weak ties,” which act as a large virtual space to interact with friends, co-workers, family members, and other acquaintances. Some of these sites include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and Foursquare. Some of these companies have become such an enormous pieces of daily life that they have become a verb, which is a symbol for their amount of success. For example, people commonly use social network verbs such as “Googling,” “Tweeting” and “Skyping.” These sites all allow people to have large networks and stay in touch with people across generations.
