How Does Social Media Determine Personal Growth?

Social media can often appear puzzling; between choosing which platforms to use and which ones best suit your interest, it 's often very hard to maintain all your accounts successfully. Though it may seem like a daunting task to tie together all your social media accounts it is very possible. To extend any brand there has to be a clear dominance in multiple social media platforms. The best way to establish this dominance is by relating different platforms to each other as often as you can manage. For example, currently I am serving as the public relations chair in my hall government, and lately we have begun to use social media accounts to broadcast the events to the residents we represent. Since the course began I have focused heavily on Facebook, especially due to my RHA Public Relations role. The tool would best demonstrate what I 've learned over the past month and how I 've applied it to help garner attention to RHA and the programs we have planned for our residents. Though most people would like to say they rule social media, as I quickly realized there is so much more to social media which has yet to be mastered. One person I feel that has dominant control over their social media accounts is Eric LeGrand. Eric LeGrand may not be the biggest of celebrities but his name, especially at Rutgers, definitely has the same effect. Eric LeGrand is very effective in social media; on his Facebook page he is constantly sharing pictures with even bigger celebrities, posting inspirational videos, and bringing attention to the necessity of funding for spinal cord injury research. His Facebook page has over 100,000 followers who show their support for Eric 's cause and optimism to once again be able to walk. Similarly his twitter resonates the same magnitude of dominance, using various types of post including photos, external links, text post, and videos in which Mr. LeGrand shows dominance by focusing mostly on text posts and external links instead of pictures, which gives him the least to gain as described in Kelsey Limbert 's article "Why Social Authority Matters for Your Twitter Strategy". Additionally his Instagram resonates the same theme, his pictures with other celebrities boost his own follower count while spreading his message of belief in defying odds.
