Justine Sacco was traveling to Africa to visit family, during her flight she tweeted several comments about her experience such as “Weird German Dude: You’re in First Class. It’s 2014. Get some deodorant. --- Inner monologue as I inhale BO. Thank God for pharmaceuticals.” Then during a layover at Heathrow: she tweeted “Chilly --- cucumber sandwiches---bad teeth. Back in London!” (J. Ronson 2015). Both of which were harmless and seen in a joking manor. It was her tweet on December 20 that up-ended her world (without her knowledge) during the last leg of her fight to Africa. Before boarding her plane to Cape Town she tweeted “Going to Africa. (Stone) This does not mean that there are not consequences due to what an individual may say or write from their peers, and it also means the government cannot make a law forbidding organizations from firing someone because of something that individual says and/or writes.
