Lee has Atticus speak to the jury because she wants to show the audience that majority rule will never always be right, that justice is unfair, and that society never has good terms on which to justify people, when it is a society full of bigotry.
Through this book, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee has shed light on what social justice is through the minds of society, Maycomb County, and what it is like through a person of moral rightness, Atticus Finch. If it’s anything we learned from her, we now know that justice will never be true, absolute justice if decided by people with unjustified biases and prejudices against an innocent race, person, etc. Social justice will never be fully equitable until oppression ends, and that will never happen if the people that are unaffected by it are as equally outraged as those who
