I was recommended and chosen after a lengthy application process to be a part of the Leaders in Training program at the camp. I have so many amazing memories from my experience there but one really stands out to me as something that exemplifies my personality.
I met a little girl about ten years old named Sophie when first arrived at the camp. She was small for her age and really didn’t want to leave her grandparents, the ones dropping her off at Take Action Camp. I greeted and started asking her questions to her directly, trying to get to know her interests and why she was there. Finding similarities and getting to know people is something I have always found comes naturally to me, and I wanted to make sure this little girl’s first experience away from home got off to a great start. I took her to some younger girls I’d been talking to earlier and spent some time introducing them all,
