Social Justice And Discrimination Essay

I chose to use the core value Social Justice and the Ethical Standard Discrimination. What are Social Justice and Discrimination? Social Justice is defined as promoting a just society by challenging injustice and valuing diversity. It says all people share a common humanity and therefore have a right to fair treatment, respect for their human rights, and a fair allocation of resources. In conditions of social justice, people are not to be discriminated against, nor did their welfare and well-being constrain on the basis of gender, sexuality, religion, political affiliations, age, or other characteristics.
Social Justice is generally linked with the notion of equality or equal opportunity in society. Although equality is definitely part of social justice, the meaning of social justice is actually much broader. Also social justice is about assuring the protection of equal access to liberties, rights, and opportunities, as well as taking care of the least advantage of members of society.
As a social worker we have responsibilities to promote social justice, in relation to society generally, and in relation to the people with whom we work. Social workers have a responsibility to challenge all discrimination on the basis of characteristics …show more content…
Sexual harassment at school is against federal law. A school is required to adopt and publish complaint procedures for resolving sex discrimination complaints, including complaints of sexual harassment. This provides an effective means for promptly and properly responding to sexual harassment complaints. I think the school should’ve had a policy up that will be addressed and dealt with. Schools also lose funding if it’s in violation of federal
