Obesity is a growing problem in the U.S. today, caused primarily by physical inactivity, over eating, a diet high simple carbohydrates and will cause chronic illnesses. For the past few years, the rate of obesity or obese people has grown in the United States, is it because of a social problem, or is it an epidemic? As a nation, we need to find out the root cause of this problem. As you read this you may wonder or think to yourself a social problem, I don’t think people want to be obese. Well there are two sides to every story and I am here to find out, which is the most accurate. The chronic illnesses that are caused by obesity or being overweight over a long time just skims the surface of the illnesses and that’s just what has been discovered so far. its also said that obesity causes some cancers and if anyone reads the paper, health articles or watches the news we all know how serious having or getting cancer is. Especially when some of the types of cancer never really goes away or there isn’t a cure for it. In addition, it seems like there are new illnesses and cancers developing and causing illness in people every day, this is why as a nation we need to take care ourselves and be sure we live health …show more content…
I would have to say that its not classified as an individual problem, its not one or the other it is both depending on the situation of the events and the life style that the particular person lives. It is also on how you are raised and your genealogy that the person or the person’s family has. In addition, by having obesity and not having it or getting it under control you are more at risk to several chronic illnesses and disease some include heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. You could get type II diabetes and gout as well. If the person dose get diabetes or heart disease that’s a huge sigh that he or she needs to get there weight and obesity condition under control because of the risks related to these daises. Some of the risks related to these daises include being hospitalized or death if they are left unchecked or not caught in a timely
