According to the Cambridge Dictionary, overpopulation is an undesirable condition where the number of existing human population exceeds the carrying capacity of Earth. Nowadays, overpopulation has been a prevailing word, as it has triggered numerous problems in urban areas. To understand this issue thoroughly, it is important to declare the root cause of this matter.
After the technological industrialization, a huge improvement of health care service and medical facilities has been done, which in return reduces our average mortality rate. People tend to live longer than their ancestors have been a century ago. Based on a survey conducted by the World Health Organization, the average life expectancy of American in 1990 jumped from 75 to 79 in 2013; it

As population increases, a lot of welfare is provided. Take the example of Hong Kong’s situation, a nine-year-free education is offered. Some welfare states such as US, the government render medication for its own citizens. Apart from mediations, housing is also a concern. To house the increased population, more habitats are needed to build. Developing enterprises would “fully utilize” the land to construct, blocking views of other estates and hindering air flow. On behalf of a country, energy is generated for the production of different industries. To produce electricity, fossil fuel is burnt for the economic development and technological advancement, increasing ones competitiveness. It would eventually harm our social quality of life. Also, food and water are required. In extreme occasions, people would take risks if they face life-threatening issues, if these resources are depleted for long time, starvation or famine might occur. They would commit crime like stealing or robbing resources; in some uncivilized countries like Kenya, raids often occur to fight for daily necessities, deteriorating social
