Homelessness is nothing new to the world, especially America. In fact, homelessness was first documented in America in the 1640s (Fischer 2011). America has a long past with homelessness. However, there is said to believe that homelessness is caused by a large range of issues. Many people (typically conservatives) believe that the homeless people are fully responsible for their current situation. Others (typically liberals) believe that homelessness is caused by our society. Whether both of true or not, it reflects on how society has saw homelessness throughout the years in the United States. Like the conservatives and liberal, homelessness may be caused by failed government or doing it to themselves. Moreover, homelessness is caused by many other reasons. Natural disasters occur in certain locations; the aftermath is not always as we expect. In the YouTube video, Sociological Perspective Project: Homelessness, it stated that about 141 million people lost their home by 3,559 natural disasters, such as floods, landslides, earthquakes, and windstorms throughout the globe (Fulton 2012). A family can still be homeless because there’s not many job opening and it is harder to feed 3-10 mouths rather than one or two. An individual can still be homeless because their surroundings are slums and there is negative influences at every corner.
