An inspector calls is a performative text, this means that it is a play; which was written in 1945; but, it takes place in 1945 in England. Written by J.B Priestley who not only was a studious about Modern History and Political Science, but also with the outbreak of the great word Priestley joined the infantry. These two fundamental aspects of the Authorś life will mark the text, but how? In the first place we can find that along the text the Inspector will be Authorś thoughts about social issues, Although inspector Gooleś counterpart is the voice of Mr Berling and his wife, Mrs Berling, the reader can find some supporting characters whose in a way copulate with inspectorś thought.

There are two of them who actually suffer a change along the story, I am talking about the siblings Sheila and Eric. Eric in the first place seems to be an outsider in the family, he seems to be an alcohol addict and it looks like he doesn't care about anyhing, but later on Eric starts to asking some questions to his father in order to defy him “what about war?”and this question not only shows that Eric is not a total idiot, but also revealed another facet of him, in fact he cares about Political issues. During the play when the Inspectors enters; Eric will criticize her father when he recognizes that he had dismissed Eva “It isn't if you can't go and work somewhere elses” at the scene takes place Eric's critic become more and more strong when Gerald tries to justify Berling's action saying “ you couldn't have done anything else” Eric rapidly answers” He could. He could have kept her on instead of throwing her out” But it is not just Eric, who takes this position; his sister Sheila also suffers a change. At the very beginning of the play her life is perfect because she belongs to a wealthy family and the most important thing is that she is about to get married to Gerald Croft who is; like her father, a very powerful man of business.
