Remember the first week of the Social Innovation Project lesson, Madam Safura brief us on the overview of the module and also shown us a video of the past year student project. She has also given us a list of topics and recommended project statements for our group to discuss on what we want to do. Our group created a Whatapps group chats right after the lesson ended. We had discussed our topic and problem statements during the weekend. After some discussion in the Whatapps group chats, it seems that Jacqueline and I have the common topic that we wanted to do while others have no objection. So, we had chosen demographic as our topic while the problem statements we are still stuck on. On the second week, we started

Design thinking tools has been all along applied in our Social Innovation Project, in which we are currently doing it for this semester. Some of the methods that we had used are (POEMS, interviews/observations, clustering & insight-gathering, Persona), and from this design thinking methods we can empower ourselves to realize that we can create our own future by borrowing frameworks from other areas, which allows us to design our own participation and experiences. One of the examples that we had applied the design thinking method was the clustering and insight-gathering.
During week four, which is right after the interview, our group member summarise and translate what was interviewed, into Microsoft Word. This is the process where interviews and observation method transform to clustering and insight-gathering. We came back on the week five during lesson. We started off with some sharing of our experience during interviews and then we process on with our clustering and insight-gathering. During the clustering and insight gathering process we have to observe what the interviewees has said and cluster them into different sectors. Besides that we need to give all the different sectors, a heading and understanding what are their needs and insight. This was done so because it will help us have a better understanding of their lifestyles and needs so as to easily combine them when doing

Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

When it comes to understanding yourself and your personality on a deeper level than normally, you must take personal stories into perspective that have shaped your life while growing up. According to McAdams, “defining oneself through a personal story is an act of psychological and social responsibility” (Engler 2009). Psychological and social responsibility relate to how you act onto actions around you and how you tie society into your viewpoint of the world. In other words, explaining yourself through a story can show several things such as how your emotions played an affect, the type of response you displayed to something that happened, and as well as the lessons you learned through a personal but also social aspect. In addition, McAdams…

At the end of Phase I, samples are individually asked to address the challenge, “people don’t value the works of child care workers” by writing her/his idea within a specified time frame, say 60 minutes. A format that will be used for asking samples to address the challenge is illustrated as Appendix 9. A panel of experts (at least of three members) of the context of this study then evaluates each reply, and decides which replies are to be considered innovative. Based on the evaluation, samples are to be divided into two groups: (a) innovative or controlled group; and (b) non-innovative or experiment group.…

Last summer I attended Stanford’s Social Entrepreneurship course. In which a group of fourty of us spent four weeks trying to find practical creative solutions to many of the worlds most pressing social issues. Initially everyone spent a few hours brainstorming ideas after that we were split into groups five with similar areas of focus. The general theme of our group was internet access in Africa, which is at a shockingly low 13.5%. Initially we made very little progress as a team, everyone one wanted their own idea represented and didn’t like theirs being discarded, we were going no where.…

Throughout the semester of English Composition I, I learned any new things. Over the past few months I have learned many new tips on how to create a good paper. Although I gained much knowledge over the past few months I did struggle with a few things such as formulating a written thesis statement expressing my main point in the composition, producing rough drafts preliminary to the final draft, applying transition strategies to organize the entire composition cohesively and coherently, and overall practicing various prewriting strategies, such as thinking, brainstorming, listing, and freewriting.…

After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

Self-Reflection 2 Eliut Lopez-Enriquez Millersville University Moral distress comes in many ways to many nurses. My moral distress situation came about when an unresponsive patient came to the emergency room and the family had a Do Not Resuscitate/Do Not Intubate paperwork. I was the primary nurse; the house supervisor was present to ensure that the proper paperwork was at hand. After verification of the paperwork and talks with the family, the team stood by to ensure the patient no further suffering and no further distress felt by the family.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

English 106 was the first real college class that I ever stepped foot in, and because of that, I was extremely nervous and unsure. The English teachers at my high school always said that the papers they assigned were held to college standards, and I always did well on those assignments, but I was still unsure about this course. I expected this course to be loaded with reading and writing assignments that would make me pull all-nighters on a regular basis. After going through English 106, I realized that there were not too many assignments and that I learned a lot from each one. To me, the most salient parts of this course were the discourse community paper, the annotated bibliography, the art analysis, peer reviews, revisions, and reflections.…

Collective Learning Technology has brought huge influences on everyone’s lives. The Duke University had brought iPod as an academic device and educational experiment to all the first-year class students. The iPod inverted the traditional role of technology, which has many new functions. Students not only can listen to music, but also use the iPod as an academic device to collaborate with others. This concept can be seen in Project Classroom Makeover, by Cathy Davidson.…
