The film, Harlan County, U.S.A, assisted in producing awareness that miners needed better circumstances while working. After the film, Supersize Me, McDonald's began to sell healthier options on their menu in order to help stop obesity. Also, a new law that banned employers from giving employees less than minimum wage in Belgium was created because of the movie, Rosetta. In the U.S, Peter Seeger’s protest song, “We Shall Overcome” was the civil right’s movement anthem. “A Change is Gonna Come, by Sam Cooke, and “Blowin in the Wind”, by Bob Dylan, both contributed to the Civil Rights movement as well. Bob Dylan wrote songs and released them in order to persuade and help people that enforce change. Sarah Barnes said, “At the same time Dylan also wrote songs about being brave and strong during these difficult times. These type of sings helped create a form of community between the activist groups. By doing this type of support he was able to help the Civil Rights movement stay strong and continue to make strides toward equality.” Another piece of literature, The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, discusses how violence in fiction is actually a reality for the world.
